Saskatoon, SK, September 10, 2019– Today Saskatchewan Association of Theatre Professionals, Executive Director, Colleen Ostoforoff announced new programs for the 2019 / 2020 theatre professionals and live performing arts community.

Over the past year, SATP continued to develop new programs and this year we are very excited to launch several new initiates.

In October, our Respect & Equity Committee programming offers two workshops on ByStander Intervention Training for Theatre Artists. Jenna Rodgers from Chromatic Theatre in Calgary will hold one workshop in in Saskatoon October 7th and one workshop Regina on October 8th. Jenna will lead artists in a full day workshop, training that uses a social justice framework to begin the process of assessing and understanding societal power dynamics.

SATP podcasts are a new feature as we talk about the theatre industry. Pods casts can be found online: . Check back often for new updates.

“I am excited to announce the pilot project for Professional Theatre Mentorship Program for theatre professionals wanting to change their focus in the live performing arts industry,” said Colleen Ostoforoff, Executive Director, SATP.

SATP launches a stimulating new professional development training program for professionals working in the live performing arts. This January 2020, we continue to support our theater artists with our Money Management Series #3 workshop on Personal Taxes for Theatre Artists in Regina. Why did no one teach me about taxes?!! What can I write off? Do I need to worry about GST? Professional theatre artist and accountant Caitlin Hursh will teach you the basics of tax literacy, common pitfalls, and tools to build your confidence in prepping for tax. Register online early as we sold out last year.

Later in January & early February, Jaron Francis, Actor, a Playwright, Theatre Activist and Producer will facilitate workshops in both Regina & Saskatoon on Producing A Show from Your Own Bank Account.

As a part of our Digital Strategies Speaker Series, we are featuring a workshop on New Technologies with Christie Lites Sales in Regina. The Regina based lighting company will help artists learn about better tools, provide tips on what to look for in lighting, what type of value are you getting for your dollar, how to read a tech rider for lighting and how to navigate it when technology does not exist in the province and practical hands on tools for lighting productions.
