Strategic Plan
2025-27
Introduction
The Board of the Saskatchewan Association of Theatre Professionals (SATP) held strategic planning sessions in the spring of 2025. The strategic planning process was facilitated by Jennifer Beyer through Convoke Consulting.
This document is the report on those planning sessions, and includes the annual revision to the Strategic Plan, now covering the years 2025-2027.
The fundamental decisions made in the planning session were:
To revise our Vision, Mission, and Values.
To significantly revise the strategic goals of the organization based on our 2024 Membership Consultation, consultation with our primary funder, Creative Saskatchewan, and the current situation we find ourselves in, post-pandemic, and to revise strategic priorities going forward. These revisions update the Strategic Plan and extend it forward to remain focused on a 5-year planning horizon.
Next Steps
Together with Convoke Consulting, SATP has crafted a comprehensive working draft of a Strategic Action Plan which will inform both board and staff actions to move forward on its strategies and goals; and for SATP staff to develop or adapt so that short-term operational activities, priorities and expenditures align with the Strategic Plan.
Our Vision
SATP envisions the continuance and evolution of an adaptive, sustainable, and connected theatre industry contributing to healthy, inclusive communities and the Saskatchewan arts culture.
Our Mission
SATP is dedicated to empowering Saskatchewan theatre makers and professionals with relevant training, programming, and promotional opportunities, while being responsive to current cultural needs. SATP cultivates arts creation and development at all levels of the province through public and industry advocacy. We are committed to building strong community, professional relationships, and networks within the Saskatchewan theatre sector.
Our Values
● Growth: the continuation and development of an innovative and vibrant theatre community and arts sector.
● Accessibility: art is for everyone, and SATP commits to ongoing assessment of our working practices with the intention of iterative improvement.
● Diversity: creating space for and valuing voices from diverse backgrounds, practices, and knowledge.
● Responsiveness: Attending to the needs of the theatre community as articulated through an ongoing dialogue with the theatre community.
● Collaboration: SATP builds on the inherent nature of theatre-making to enhance the experiences and outcomes of theatre practice in Saskatchewan by placing collaboration at the centre of each of our values.
Definitions:
Vision – why we exist; why we are involved in this organization; a picture of the primary purpose or outcome of the organization.
Mission – our work; what we do in pursuit of our Vision.
Values – our priorities for behaviour and decisions; the characteristics that define what kind of people we are; and what our organizational culture and decision-making is based on.
Conclusion
The current strategic action plan is a living document, subject to change as SATP staff and board respond to the needs of its membership. If you have any questions, feel free to connect with Judith Schulz, our Executive Director or Deneh’Cho Thompson, our board chair.
