TheatreCon 2025
BTS: Behind the Stage

June 5-8, 2025 | Regina

After the success of the inaugural TheatreCon in 2023, SATP is thrilled to once again this year host a conference for theatre folk. This conference is for SATP members (and soon-to-be SATP members), including but not limited to theatre makers, arts administrators, theatre educators, students, and creatives.

How do you make a living in theatre, really

There are a lot of details behind the magic of theatre that public audiences don’t see - the often unaddressed practical aspects, the technical and production facets, and the strategies artists use to support their personal health and wellness in an industry that is all about extremes.

How do you write grants to secure funding for that show you've always wanted to produce? How do you file taxes as an independent artist or producer? How does your theatre plan and program shows that audiences will want to attend? How do you make a website or portfolio that is clean and easy to access yet still shows off your creative skills? How do you support artists in a safe, healthy, and equitable way through long tech hours? There are so many areas you have to be an "expert" in that it can be overwhelming. This conference will explore a few of these questions and more to help you continue to fill your pack of skills to thrive in the prairie theatre industry.

Over the course of the weekend, attendees will attend guided sessions, hands-on workshops, and community conversations, as well as a variety of other sessions intended to engage and inform. There will be opportunities to connect with fellow artists, see a show (TBA), and build community.

Locations & Accessibility

TheatreCon 2025 will take place at the Ramada Plaza By Wyndham Regina Downtown in Regina, SK. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible conference spaces and elevator access to the different floors. While their guest rooms do not have roll-in showers, their business king rooms are suitable for guests with limited ability since they are larger and more open.

We want to give you space to let us know your accessibility and comfort needs. In the registration process, there will be space to specify if supports such as ASL interpretation, childcare, transportation, sensory room/quiet space, and mobility support would make your attendance more enjoyable. If there is a barrier that exists that is preventing you from registering or attending, please connect with us by email or by calling 306-371-7287 to talk to Judith.
