In 1993 the world wide web was launched in the public domain, promising connection, access, and an open exchange of ideas. A generation later, nine 20-somethings, growing up in the shift from analog to digital, try to make sense of the information superhighway they inherited, questioning who they are, or who they believe themselves to be, and who they imagine they might become. Part party, part funeral, part revolution on the edge, this work moves between personal memory and collective experience, reckoning with what’s been lost and leaning toward what might still be found.
Created by the graduating cohort of the University of Regina’s BFA devised theatre program and presented in partnership with Globe Theatre, What Was, What Will asks what is inherited, what is imposed, and what might still be reshaped by a new generation.
Created by Cypress Babcock, Annika Danielson, Sydney Gayle, Krystalynn Lascelle, Mikkel O’Shaughnessy, Slayte Prefontaine, Emily Sorensen, Hope Van Vliet, and Sophia Williams
