Advocacy
One of SATP’s mandates is to promote and advocate for, and on behalf of, theatre professionals and for the performance sector in Saskatchewan, both within the province and beyond. This work often includes:
To be responsive to social/economic movements, events, and cultural forces.
To be an effective voice, advocating for and representing theatre professionals to government and all aspects of our society, basing our messages on sound knowledge and thorough consultation among our members and partners.
To make recommendations to the SATP board of directors on advocacy-related issues.
The work of SATP’s Advocacy Committee to date has included objectives such as:
Strengthening awareness of the cultural, social, and economic value of arts and culture in Saskatchewan and across Canada
Advancing opportunities for increased and sustained public funding
Advocating for improved working conditions within the sector, including living standards, health supports, and economic stability for artists and arts workers
