The Professional Association of Canadian Theatres hosts an annual conference to bring together theatre leaders across the country. In 2026, PACTcon was held in Whitehorse, Yukon.
From April 21-25, Executive Director Judith (and mascot Gobo!) participated in a very full 5 days of learning, connecting and planning for another year of thriving theatre in Canada. Plus there were plenty of gorgeous Yukon sunsets and adventures!
Some highlights included:
Gathering with the rest of our sister organizations, the Theatre Network of ASOs (arts service organizations), from across Canada for a day of discussion and planning
Opportunities throughout the conference to see performances by local and national artists - Pivot Theatre curated performances for the week and Gwaandak Theatre concluded their Awaken Theatre Festival during PACTcon.
Time listening to stories and experiencing the beautiful Haa Shagóon Hídi - Carcross/Tagish Learning Centre
Attending Gwaandak Theatre’s Awaken Theatre Gathering at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre to see many indigenous artists perform in a multitude of disciplines, and hear Renaltta Arluk, Christine Genier, and Philip Jonah Logan Geller speak on the importance of indigenous-led processes.
