After the success of the inaugural TheatreCon in 2023, the Saskatchewan Association of Theatre Professionals (SATP) is thrilled to once again host a conference for theatre and live performance folk. This conference, conceptualized and organized by the SATP, with funding support from Creative Saskatchewan, will feature numerous activities and events taking place on Treaty Four territory in and around the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Regina.
This year the theme for TheatreCon is BTS - Behind the Stage. There are a lot of details behind the magic of theatre that public audiences don’t see - the often unaddressed practical aspects, the technical and production facets, and the strategies artists use to support their personal health and wellness in an industry that is all about extremes.
How do you write grants to secure funding for that show you've always wanted to produce? How do you file taxes as an independent artist or producer? How does your theatre plan and program shows that audiences will want to attend? How do you make a website or portfolio that is clean and easy to access yet still shows off your creative skills? How do you support artists in a safe, healthy, and equitable way through long tech hours? There are so many areas you have to be an "expert" in that it can be overwhelming. This conference will explore a few of these questions and more to help you continue to fill your pack of skills to thrive in the prairie theatre industry.
Whether your focus is on a career-building capacity or a creative discipline, we'd love to talk to you about how your presentation or workshop could be part of an enabling and inspiring conference for our members.
All presenters will be compensated and will be registered as a TheatreCon participant at no charge.
Please note that the sessions/workshops will be presented on June 6th or 7th, 2025 in person in Regina, SK.
To propose your presentation or workshop, please fill out this form and provide:
A bio of roughly 100 words summarizing your relevant vocational or life experience;
A one or two-paragraph summary of your proposed presentation or workshop, including capacity/learning objectives for participants, if relevant; and
